When Ascend Design’s Jasper Goh made a decision to change his very own 83-square-metre Tiong Bahru walk-up apartment or condo, he saw it as the excellent possibility to press innovative limits. Converting the initial three-room HDB level right into an open workshop, this task came to be both home and speculative play ground for the young developer.
“I saw it as an opportunity to experiment, to be a bit bolder and more personal than I usually would with a client project,” Jasper describes. “It became a space where I could explore ideas I’ve always wanted to try—both creatively and emotionally.”
The improvement attracts motivation from a not likely resource: Further Hotel inBali “That space really stayed with me. It was relaxed but curated, raw but refined. I wanted to bring some of that energy into The Bahru House,” he mirrors.

Working within the restrictions of the existing HDB framework showed tough, specifically with the shower room design and architectural beam of lights. Rather than hiding these components, Jasper accepted them.
“Instead of trying to hide them, I decided to work with them. The bathroom now acts as a bridge between the bedroom and living space, and I kept the beams exposed as part of the design — they now add texture and history rather than feeling like obstacles.”
The product combination centres on petting and flaw. Handmade yellow ceramic tiles from Thai craftsmens Loqa support the kitchen area with their flawlessly incomplete personality, while a significant environment-friendly marble shower develops what Jasper refers to as “a little sanctuary.” The corkboard wall surface in the living-room offers both feature and type, presenting continuous illustrations and innovative concepts.

Custom furnishings by Ascend Design keeps spatial communication while mirroring Jasper’s individual living patterns. Clean Meir installations give classic performance, while a talented art work from a friend includes individual story to the bed room.
One specifically creative layout step sees the bed room ceiling repainted deep environment-friendly. “It’s subtle, but it really shifts the mood of the space,” Jasper notes, discussing just how this aesthetic technique reduces the ceiling to develop a cocooning result.
The resulting home equilibriums a high-octane character with spatial clearness.”It’s not attempting also tough to be stylish or sleek. It’s lived-in, split, and truthful,” Jasper states of the end result. “Every decision was intentional, and I think that really comes through when you spend time in the space.”
